AmaTuks & Lions make ground in MFC title race

University of Pretoria and Hungry Lions made ground in a possible Motsepe Foundation Championship title race by winning their matches over the weekend.

Lions secured a 2-1 win over JDR Stars at the Giant Stadium on Friday, while the University of Pretoria emerged as 2-0 winners over Magesi FC at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on the same day.

Therefore, Lions and AmaTuks are placed third and fourth respectively on the standings - level on points (23) and they are two points behind leaders, Orbit College who lost on Saturday.

Orbit succumbed to a heavy 6-1 defeat against a ruthless Casric Stars side on Saturday, while second-placed Baroka FC also suffered a 2-1 loss against Pretoria Callies on the same day.

Lastly, rock-bottom Platinum City Rovers' relegation concerns increased when they suffered a 1-0 loss to fellow strugglers, Milford FC on Saturday.
