While the race for first place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship heats up, the likes of Marumo Gallants and Platinum City Rovers will be hoping to move closer to safety in the latest round of first division fixtures.

Platinum City Rovers, who sit at the bottom of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table, will take on Venda Football Academy at the Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday. Venda Football Academy recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Platinum City Rovers in the previous meeting between the two sides which took place on the 23rd of September last year.

Led by Tlou Segolela, Platinum City Rovers head into their next game on the back of a 1-1 draw with La Masia and accumulated just 20 points in 22 games played so far.

Also sitting on 20 points, 15th placed Marumo Gallants are set to square off against JDR Stars at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Sunday. Gallants suffered a 2-1 loss against Casric Stars last time out as they recorded their third defeat in four matches.

At the top of the pile, Magesi will be hoping to record their 7th straight win in the league this weekend when they host fellow promotion chasing side Orbit College at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Then, looking to apply pressure on the log leaders, second-placed University of Pretoria will take on Casric Stars in a keenly anticipated clash at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Friday.
