Following a stalemate between University of Pretoria and Baroka in the Motsepe Foundation Championship this week, Baroka made sure to close the gap at the top of the table following their hard-fought 2-1 win over Maritzburg United on Tuesday.

Baroka travelled to the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium this week, where Bakgakga ended their three-match winless streak with a victory over the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit.

The win saw Baroka move up to third on the log, replacing Upington City’s in the position following their 2-1 loss to Magesi on Tuesday.

As the feature game of the week, Orbit College and AmaTuks recorded a 2-2 draw at the Tuks Stadium on Tuesday, and remained in first and second place on the table respectively.

Orbit College recorded just two wins in their last five league games, as the likes of AmaTuks and Baroka closed the gap at the top of the pile.

Elsewhere, Hungry Lions recorded a convincing 3-1 win over Marumo Gallants on Wednesday afternoon, while Pretoria Callies oversaw a thrilling 3-2 victory against Casric Stars at the TUT Stars this week.
