French prop forward Sipili Falatea was Thursday ruled out of the Six Nations due to a serious knee injury which will sideline him for "several months", his Top 14 club Bordeaux-Begles announced.

The 26-year-old forward, who has been capped 14 times and featured in the French squad at last year's World Cup, ruptured ligaments in his right knee during a training session, the club told AFP.

France start their Six Nations campaign on February 2 against defending champions Ireland in Marseille.
