The new year has begun and we’re hitting the ground WINNING! With all the new sport ahead, there are many reasons to get excited. Join us on SuperSport, your World Of Champions, as we kick off a year of unrivalled sporting entertainment.

–– RUGBY - URC, European Cup ––

January is a jam-packed rugby month that will be book-ended by two away games in the URC for the Lions. First up they travel to sweaty Durban, and on the last Saturday, they'll take the short commute up the N1 for their highly anticipated Jukskei derby against the Bulls.

The bulk of the month's action will be stood off to European Cup and Challenge action, with all five of our participating teams getting a chance to turn up the heat on Northern Hemisphere sides under the baking African sun.

The football fiesta continues on SuperSport this January with some outstanding fixtures across the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, LaLiga, Serie A, and LaLiga.

Here are the key fixtures. All times CAT (GMT +2)

First up is the FA Cup with some mouthwatering fixtures featuring the Premier League heavyweights and also a fierce derby. There will also be two-legged Carabao Cup semifinals which promise to be epic showdowns

With the Betway SA20 due to start at the backend of the festive period, SuperSport is going bigger and better for season two, which gets underway at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on 10 January 2024.

AUSTRALIA Women v SOUTH AFRICA Women

27 January – 19 February 2024

After a successful series against Bangladesh, which saw the Protea ladies draw the T20s and win ODIs 2-1, our Proteas women travel down and under to take on their arch-rivals Australia in a battle of three T20s, three ODIs and one test. All the matches will be broadcast on your World of Champions.

AUSTRALIAN OPEN - 14-28 January

Tennis’ first major of the season gets underway at the Melbourne Park, Australia

The biggest story is the return of former champions Rafael Nadal, Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber.

The trio will be mounting a comeback at what has been a pivotal event in their respective Grand Slam journeys.

None of the three will have contested a tour-level match before the Australian summer of tennis, having spent extended stints out of the sport.

SONY OPEN IN HAWAII – 11-15 January

The Sony Open, the second event of the PGA Tour 2024 season will attract 144 golfers to vie for the title in Hawaii.

Defending champion Si Woo Kim is most likely to participate in the event. In 2023, he defeated Hayden Buckley by securing a one-stroke lead.

Alongside Kim, fans will witness several other elite golfers competing in the tournament.

DUBAI INIVITATIONAL – 11-14 January

The first-ever Dubai Invitational tees off next week at Dubai Creek Resort with the four-day event, which features a star-studded line up of 60 professional golfers and 60 amateurs.

A brand-new Pro-Am event on the DP World Tour, the tournament will see a 72-hole strokeplay competition played concurrently with a three-day team Pro-Am, with Sunday featuring professionals only.

HERO DUBAI DESERT CLASSIC - 18-21 January

The HERO Dubai Desert Classic returns celebrating its 35th edition over four action packed days.

This year’s exciting event features defending champ and world No 2, Rory McIlroy alongside some of the world’s top golfers, all competing for the $9million prize pool at this prestigious DP World Tour Rolex Series event.

HILTON GRAND VACATIONS TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS – 18-21 January

This year’s event returns to Lake Nona Golf & Country Club with Brooke Henderson looking to win back-to-back titles after capturing the crown last year.

THE AMERICAN EXPRESS – 18-22 January

PGA TOUR Golf Returns to the Desert at the at PGA WEST and La Quinta Country Club.

FARMERS INSURANCE OPEN – 24-28 January

The golfing world is abuzz with excitement as the prestigious Farmers Insurance Open returns to the iconic Torrey Pines Golf Course in sunny San Diego, California.

The tournament promises a thrilling showcase of talent and a celebration of the sport’s rich heritage.

LPGA DRIVE ON CHAMPIONSHIP – 25-28 January

The world’s best golfers are heading to Bradenton Country Club the first full-field event of what is sure to be an unforgettable LPGA Tour season.

Fans can expect four days of excitement at Bradenton Country Club, with the world’s best competing inside the ropes.

TOUR DOWN UNDER – 16-21 January

The 24th edition starts in Tanunda and is set to finish on Mount Lofty in Adelaide, South Australia.

That latter stage is expected to be decisive in terms of the GC, along with the penultimate race to Willunga Hill.

UFC - 21 January

SuperSport is gearing up for an historic, uniquely South African first when Dricus du Plessis takes on Sean Strickland at UFC 297 in Toronto, Canada.
