D’General coach Morena Lothane and TS Galaxy mentor Sead Ramovic revealed that they have done all the homework possible for their upcoming Round of 16 clash in the Nedbank Cup, with the tie set to take place at the Free State Stadium on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 3:00pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)

Current form

D’General reached the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Madridtas on the 25th of February at the Toyota Stadium.

In front of a 17 000 strong crowd in attendance, Charles Sikhosana and Tladi Makhetha got their names on the scoresheet for D’General as the club became the fourth side from the Free State to reach the last-16 of the tournament.

The Rockets faced Golden Arrows in the previous round of the competition and came away with a 2-1 win at the Mpumalanga Stadium on the 23rd of February.

Goals by Lehlohonolo Mojela and Mpho Mvelase in either half was enough for Sead Ramovic and company to progress to the Nedbank Cup Round of 16.

What was said

“We are inspired by Galaxy’s achievements, and we are going to explore against them the same mentality they used to plot Chiefs’ defeat in 2019,” D’General coach Morena Lothane said.

“Qualifying for the quarterfinals will inspire the players to aspire to even greater heights and further demonstrate to upcoming players it is possible.”

“We went and watched two games of D’General live and we have some information, and we will analyse and see what game plan we can have as our goal is to go to the next round,” Ramovic said.

“We are confident we can go there and win the game.

“They are a well-coached team, and we could see that they play well. They have fast players, and it will be a tough game for us, but we will try our best to get our quality out there and increase our chance to win the game.”

Players to watch

D’General: Charles Sikhosana – After opening his account in the Nedbank Cup against Madridtas, Sikhosana will no doubt be eager to impress against the PSL outfit. The midfielder was a standout performer for his side in the Round of 32 and will be counted on to make his presence felt in the middle of the park.

TS Galaxy: Lehlohonolo Mojela – As a regular for Ramovic this season, Mojela will most likely get the nod in attack this weekend. Much like that of Sikhosana, Mojela has already scored in the competition and could look to increase his tally on Sunday.

Head-to-head

This will be the first meeting of D’General and TS Galaxy.
