Former Ghana international John Antwi scored the winning goal as Dreams edged Sierra Leone visitors Kallon 2-1 on Friday in a CAF Confederation Cup last-32 qualifier.

Another first leg, between Al Hilal Benghazi of Libya and Rayon Sports of Rwanda, was postponed due to the flooding disaster in the north African country.

Benghazi lies 290 kilometres (180 miles) southwest of Derna, the Mediterranean city where authorities believe a tsunami-sized flash flood has claimed more than 3 000 lives.

Antwi, 31, converted a 57th-minute penalty at the national stadium in Accra to give the Dreams the lead for the second time.

Godfred Atuahene had put African debutants Dreams in front after 12 minutes only for Daniel Karim to equalise in first-half added-time.

Antwi began his football career with Dreams and played for numerous Egyptian clubs, including 11-time African champions Al Ahly, before returning home this year.

The Ghanaian holds the record for the most goals scored in the Egyptian Premier League by a foreigner with 77.

Dreams are hoping to end a sorry record by Ghanaian challengers in the African equivalent of the Uefa Europa League.

Since Hearts of Oak pipped Asante Kotoko on penalties in an all-Ghanaian first Confederation Cup final in 2004, no club from the country has reached the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, AFAD Djekanou of the Ivory Coast won 2-1 away to Academie SOAR of Guinea in Conakry through goals from Michel Amani and Tiemoko Coulibaly before Mohamed Camara reduced the deficit.
