SuperSport United have been drawn against holders USM Alger in the group phase of the African Confederation Cup while newcomers Sekhukhune United have a tough opponent in two-time winners Renaissance Berkane.

SuperSport, who were runners-up in the competition in 2017, have three North African clubs in group A, including USMA who were winners in May.

The Algerians overcame both Cape Town City and Marumo Gallants on their way to the title last season.

SuperSport will also have trips to Egypt and Libya in the group phase, which kicks off next month.

Sekhukhune, who are competing in continental club competition for the first time, are up against Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane, who beat Orlando Pirates in the 2021 final.

Sekhukhune, who last week overcame opposition from the Democratic Republic of Congo, must now travel to next door Congo-Brazzaville to take on Diables Noirs and must also play Stade Malien from Mali.

The group phase begins on Sunday, 26 November and will conclude in March. The top two finishers in the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals in late March.

The final is to be played over two legs on 10 May and 17 May.
