Bulls pay homage with new jersey

The Vodacom Bulls released their 2018 home kit on Thursday night, paying homage to the original 1938 squad in the year of their 80th anniversary as a rugby union.

The idea was to get back as close as possible to the kit that originally started things for the Pretoria franchise and in doing so, the Bulls lined up current players such as Adriaan Strauss, Jamba Ulengo and Lizo Gqoboka alongside legendary Bulls like Thys Lourens, Jacques Olivier and John Mametsa.

For the first time the same jersey will be worn across all the union’s teams – from Vodacom Super Rugby all the way down to the under-19 championship and will be played under the same badge for the first time as well.

According to Puma, the kit sponsors, a 20180 graphic on the chest signifies the 80 years of heritage and will be communicated through the launch of the year-long “Our heritage drives our future” campaign, created to excite and engage with fans, consumers and customers through innovative activations as well as digital and retail executions.

“We have drawn inspiration from this 80 year milestone and forged one badge, providing the #BullsFamily with a kit that will hopefully go down in history as a must have collector’s item for fans,” said PUMA Marketing Director Brett Bellinger.

The Vodacom Bulls Home Jersey will hit stores on 30 November 2017 and will cost R799.
