The Springbok Sevens continued their redemption tour with a telling 28-7 win over Samoa in their final regulation match at the Hong Kong Sevens to top Pool C and move into the Cup quarterfinals of the competition.

The Blitzboks, who beat Ireland and Spain on day one, continued their form on day two under new coach Phillip Snyman with a clinical, blistering performance that blew away one of the circuit’s more physical sides.

Flyers Shilton van Wyk and Quewin Nortje scored first half tries, and were followed onto the scoreboard by Impi Visser as the Blitzboks blanked Samoa for the first 12 minutes of the game.

Eventually the Samoans did get some reward through Uaina Tui Sione to get themselves on the board.

Shaun Williams completed the rout with a last minute try to send the Blitzboks into the quarters on a high.

The team will now need to wait to find out who their opponent is, as the three pool system needs other fixtures to complete before it can be scheduled, but the Cup quarterfinals start at 11.09am (CAT, GMT+2).

All games are live on SuperSport.
