Euro Wrap: Ludik and Herbst help demolish Kings



Ex-Sharks duo Wiehahn Herbst and Louis Ludik contributed to Ulster's 59-10 demolition of the Southern Kings in Belfast on Friday evening.

Also on Friday night, former Bulls wing Duhan van der Merwe and ex-Lions flyhalf Jaco van der Walt started for Edinburgh as they claimed 29-24 victory over a Leinster side captained by former Lions hooker Richardt Strauss.

Former Bulls wing Zane Kirchner and ex-Cheetahs and Lions forward Rynard Landman started for the Dragons while former Cheetahs scrum-half Sarel Pretorius appeared off the bench when the Welsh side drew 15-15 with a Glasgow Warriors including ex-Western Province duo Brandon Thomson (starting) and Oli Kebble (replacement).

Ex-Sharks scrumhalf Cobus Reinach started for Northampton and former Western Province loosehead prop Francois van Wyk came off the bench as the Saints wetn down 32-9 to Bath at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Former Western Province No 8 Don Armand's Exeter lost 5-6 to a Worcester Warriors' side consisting of former Bulls trio Francois Hougaard, GJ van Velze and Kurt Haupt as well as ex-Sharks lock Anton Bresler.

Ex-Lions No 8 Ruan Ackermann helped Gloucester to a 24-17 win over Leicester at Kingsholm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, former Sharks centre Brad Barritt, ex-Stormers duo Schalk Burger and Vincent Koch started for Saracens as they eased to a 25-2 victory over Newcastle Falcons at Allianz Park on Saturday.

A Sale Sharks side consisting of ex-Lions trio Faf de Klerk, Jono Ross and Josh Strauss emerged 12-9 winners over a London Irish side which has ex-Bulls duo Arno Botha and Piet van Zyl as well as ex-Lions prop Franco van der Merwe in their ranks.

Ex-Sharks lock Jean Kleyn and ex-Lions and Western Province lock Gerbrandt Grobler played for Munster as they beat a Zebre side including former Sharks loose forward Johan Meyer and former Bulls loose forward Derrick Minnie at Thomond Park on Sunday.

Former Stormer Juan de Jongh, ex-Sharks fullback Willie le Roux and former Cheetahs utility forward Ashley Johnson appeared for Wasps as they overcame Harlequins 44-22 at Twickenham Stoop on Sunday.

Lastly, former Bulls lock Irne Herbst's Zebre stunned PRO14 champions Scarlets with a 22-12 win at Stadio Monigo on Sunday.
