Ten teams and twenty drivers will be hoping to stop Red Bull and Max Verstappen as Formula One is set for an exciting 2024 season.

THE SCENE

Last time out, Max Verstappen drove to his third consecutive World Driver’s Championship, dominating motorsport’s premier series as no other had done before with a record 18 wins, 21 podiums, 12 pole positions and breaking Alberto Ascari’s long-standing win per centage – 86.35 per cent versus 75 per cent for Ascari in 1952.

Fans will be watching with keen interest on how seven time champion Lewis Hamilton will fare in his last year with Mercedes before moving to Ferrari next year.

Ferrari have the unenviable job of trying to halt the Red Bull charge and will take courage in the fact that they were the only team to score a Grand Prix victory bar champions Red Bull last year.

After testing, Mercedes are cautiously optimistic they are back on the right track after two years of pain with a car that was simply no match for the dominant Red Bull team.

McLaren drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri both namechecked Ferrari as well as Red Bull when pondering where their team might slot into the initial 2024 pecking order, believing that those two teams are a step ahead as things stand.
