‘Expect the best of Robo v Heartland’

FC Robo Queens head coach, Emmanuel Osahon has promised the very best performance from his wards against top-flight newcomers, Heartland Queens as the curtain falls on the first tier league.

The Lagos landladies are hosts of the Owerri side in Wednesday’s Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) matchday 14 clash at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

The Lagos outfit shared the spoils against the NWPL bottom-placed side in the first fixture clash at the Federal Polytechnic ground in Nekede, Owerri.

Osahon said his side hope to win convincingly against the visitors, Heartland Queens to further push for a respectable finishing on the final league log.

“First and foremost, we have gained experience in the outgoing league we must showcase the improvement with our performance as well as give confidence to our teeming fans that better days are ahead of us in the coming season.

“If we win on Wednesday which we will we are sure to move up on the league ladder and our sincerest wish is to move up the ladder.

“I assure you will see a better if not the best of FC Robo Queens on Wednesday against the visitors, Heartland Queens.

“Of course, we will not take Heartland Queens for granted given their position on the league log or the fact that we held them to a draw at their home ground in Nekede, Owerri.

“We expect them to come out fighting for the whole three points at stake in the clash but we will not allow them the luxury to ruffle any feather as we have trained very hard as well as perfected our game plan to earn an outright win in the game.

“We are not only working towards earning the three points at stake but equally to score more goals to chance a favourable placement on the league log.

“Right now we have three teams on same points though the other two, Ibom Angels and Abia Angels are way ahead on superior goals so if we must upstage the duo to claim a respectful fourth or fifth finish on the final table we have to score as many goals as possible to achieve the mark,” said Osahon to supersport.com.

Osahon awarded his side 60% performance in the on-going top-flight while promising a far better campaign in the upcoming season.

“I can assure you that what happened to us in the outgoing season will not happen next year once I’m able to retain a large chunk of the players.

“I have this recurring problem of continually rebuilding the team yearly and it has not been the best.

“However, I will still score the team 60% in the outgoing league season given the calibre of players – largely youngsters.

“They actually performed as the side never battled for relegation from the start of the season to the end.

“The elongated holidays affected us badly as the players returned from the long break on low but all the same it’s not a bad season,” said Osahon.

FC Robo Queens are sixth on the seven-team NWPL Group A log on 12 points 11 behind leaders, Bayelsa Queens.
