‘We won’t be careless against Enyimba’

Remo Stars striker Victory Mbaoma has said there will be no mistakes when his side confront former champions Enyimba.

The Sky Blue Stars are hosts of the People’s Elephant in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 20 clash at the Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu.

Mbaoma said his side have done good work during the midterm break, aimed at improving their fortune in the second stanza of the league.

“We have learnt our lesson the hard way concerning the NPFL matchday 1 clash home loss to Plateau United.

“That bitter defeat to the Jos side still hurts us till date and was largely responsible for the misfortune that befell us in the first term of the league.

“We have decided to be extremely careful with our matches as the second stanza of the league is about to commence.

“We will not take chances anymore but give our matches the seriousness it deserves, aimed at getting the desired result.

“We are ready for the restart of the season especially the reverse fixture clash against former champions, Enyimba.

“We have done our homework. Well, we just hope it will turn out well to enable us to amass the three points at stake,” said the Remo Stars marksman to supersport.com.

Mbaoma said his side’s position is quite worrisome, but he believes there will be a positive turnaround in the second term.

“Our position is not the best, but something we must pay serious attention to, especially as we head into the second term.

“We noticed that the gap among the clubs is not much, so we just have to work a little harder to improve our fortune.

“Our position is not static or cast in iron, it's changeable and we are going to make a huge change.

“Of course, we will definitely avoid relegation at the end of the ongoing top-flight,” said Mbaoma.

The Remo outfit are bottom of the 20-team top-flight on 19 points, 16 behind league leaders Plateau United.
