French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux announced on Tuesday they had sacked boss Ricardo Gomes after only one win in the team's last six games.

Brazilian Ricardo was unusually named the side's general manager in September as he does not hold the necessary certificates to be appointed a coach.

He replaced former Chelsea midfielder Gustavo Poyet at the helm but could only guide the Matmut Atlantique side to 13th place in the table with their last victory coming against lowly Dijon on January 20.

"Considering the disappointing results of the first team, the directors of Bordeaux, in agreement with Ricardo Raymundo Gomes, have decided to bring his responsibilities as general manager of the club to an end," the Ligue 1 outfit said in a statement.

Frenchman Eric Bedouet, who was the team's official coach due to Ricardo's lack of qualification, takes over on a temporary basis.

Bordeaux, who were taken over by American investors last November, next face a home fixture against Montpellier on Tuesday.
