Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed a hattrick and Sadio Mane was also on the scoresheet in the Saudi Arabian league as second placed Al Nassr thumped Pitso Mosimane’s Abha Club 8-0 on Tuesday.

It is the heaviest defeat ever suffered by the 59-year-old South African coach, who began his coaching career at SuperSport United in 2001.

The result keeps Abha in second-from-bottom place and puts immediate pressure on Mosimane, who only joined in January to try and help the club work their way out of relegation danger.

Abha lost 7-0 away to Saudi league leaders Al Hilal in December after which they fired Romanian coach George Timis, who had only been in the job for three months.

Mosimane has been in charge for seven games, winning two, drawing two and losing three.

Abha have 22 points from 26 game and are in 17th position in the Saudi league, but only two points from safety. They are next up against Al Fateh at home on Sunday and have seven games to complete after that in their search for safety.

Ronaldo scored the first two goals and Mane added the third as Al Nasser went 3-0 up just past the half hour mark.

They were 5-0 up at halftime with Ronaldo completing his hattrick in the 42nd minute. Al Nassr, who also fielded Portuguese international Otavio and former Manchester City defender Aymeric Lapore in the line-up on Tuesday, remain 12 points behind leaders Al Hilal.
