Ethiopian Insurance look to be peeling away from the relegation worries that have plagued their Ethiopian Premier League season, while Wolkite City, Shashemene City and Hambericho Durame are still in trouble.

Insurance beat Wolkite 3-0 to create a six point gap between them and the other relegation candidates.

The win took Insurance to 22 points, while Wolkite have 16 points, and Shashemene City have 13 points in 15th place.

Hambericho prop up the rear with just eight points and their loss to Hawassa further compound their woes.

It was a dramatic day at the Dire Dawa International Stadium with relegation worries top of mind.

Wolkite were forceful in the first half with a couple of clear chances which they fluffed and just as they looked to go into the break, disaster struck.

Jerome Philip scored for Ethiopian Insurance in the 38th minute to give them a 1-0 halftime lead.

Wogene Gezahegn made it 2-0 for Ethiopian Insurance and they were 3-0 to the good in the 90th minute when Abubeker Sani scored.

Wolaitta Dicha are in 12th place with 25 points, Sidama Coffee in 11th position on 27 points and Hawassa in 10th place with 29 points.

There are eight weeks to go and some of these team have nine games in hand, so Wolkite, Shashemene City and Hambericho are running out of games to secure their survival.
