Cape Town Spurs’ mandate is clear as the season is getting to the business end and their next test will be against relegation-threatened Moroka Swallows in the DStv Premiership, at the Athlone Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 3:30 pm CAT.

CURRENT FORM

After picking up a convincing win against TS Galaxy in the beginning of March, Cape Town Spurs have continued their decent run of form in the league, taking points off of Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch by holding both teams to 1-1 draws.

The Urban Warriors are still at the bottom of the league and although it seemed as though all hope was lost, they are now only two points behind Richards Bay and there seems to be a little bit of hope of survival.

As for Moroka Swallows, following some issues off the pitch stealing the attention away from their football, the team hasn’t had a good run of form lately and are in a relegation battle themselves. The Dube Birds suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of Sekhukhune United and played to a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu recently.

They were also knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria in the Round of 16. Their league position is third from bottom with 21 points.

WHAT WAS SAID

Cape Town Spurs goalkeeper Neil Boshoff believes that the team has the ability to continue bouncing back from their lacklustre start to the season.

“Right now, every point is crucial for us so as long as we keep showing up everyday and we just take each game one at a time, I think we’re in a good space at the moment,” he said according to the club’s official website.

Moroka Swallows goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi says that the team’s focus now is to put the changes in staff and personnel behind them to avoid the dreaded drop.

"We are looking forward to the next game because every game counts. It's quite unfortunate that now we have to take every game like a cup final but I have so much belief though the squad is young,” said Akpeyi according to SABC Sport.

“We're looking forward to taking every game as it comes."

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Boitumelo Radiopane, Cape Town Spurs - The young forward is showing signs of improvement after returning from a long-term injury and a possible start from him in this fixture will give him the opportunity to get back to his best.

Gabadinho Mhango, Moroka Swallows - The experienced striker is still making his mark for the Dube Birds and will be hoping to get on the scoresheet in this relegation battle fixture.
