Twenty-two-year-old striker Mini was one of the top performers when Stellenbosch extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches this season.

Mini, who is tipped to be the next big thing to come out of Mzansi, showed his class against Orlando Pirates and scored the only goal of the match.

The youngster joined Stellenbosch FC just before the season started from Chippa United. He has been playing regularly in the Diski Challenge, and his impressive performances saw him being recognised by the club's first team coach Steve Barker.

On Saturday, he helped Stellies defeat Orlando Pirates when he scored in the second half, and that goal was enough to earn them maximum points.

Stellenbosch last tasted a defeat in September 2023 when they lost 1-0 to TS Galaxy. They have since gathered 32 points from 15 matches.

They are currently on equal points with Pirates at the top. The two sides are only separated by goal difference which leaves Stellenbosch second.

With the league entering the second round, it promises to be more interesting as they all have a chance to reign supreme by the end of the season.

Pirates were the only Gauteng team to lose against Western Cape sides in a festival held at Idas Valley Sports Complex in Stellenbosch.

Their Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs defeated Cape Town Spurs 2-0 and Mamelodi Sundowns, who were part of the fest, collected maximum points with a 2-0 victory over Cape Town City.
