Blitzboks cruise to opening win



South Africa opened their defence of their Commonwealth Games campaign with an easy 43-0 win over Malaysia at the Gold Coast on Saturday morning. (CAT, GMT+2).

Justin Geduld scored in either half and was joined on the scoreboard by Dylan Sage, Branco du Preez and Phillip Snyman in the first half, and Rosco Speckman and Tim Agaba in the second as they cruised to a seven-try victory.

Scotland, South Africa’s main rivals in their pool, beat Papua New Guinea 27-0 in their game.

South Africa face Papua New Guinea at 10.37am and Scotland at 2.17pm as they complete their day one fixtures.
