Euro wrap: Van Graan thrives at Munster

Former Springbok assistant coach Johann van Graan continues to impress as the head coach Munster after the Irish province secured a comprehensive 33-10 victory over Leicester Tigers in their European Champions Cup clash at Thomond Park at the weekend.

The win was Munster's third successive one since Van Graan took charge of the side at the end of November.

Former Southern Kings and Pumas flanker Chris Cloete scored a try against Leicester and he was joined in Munster's starting line-up by former Bulls and SA U20 loose forward CJ Stander, who wore the No 8 jersey, while ex-Stormers lock Jean Kleyn packed down in the second row.

In other Champions Cup action, former Bulls lock Jacques du Plessis scored a try and Springbok and ex-Sharks utility back Francois Steyn kicked two conversions and a penalty as Montpellier claimed a hard-fought 29-22 away win over Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun.

Steyn lined up at outside centre and was joined in midfield by Bok and former Bulls centre Jan Serfontein while another former Bulls representative, Nico Janse van Rensburg, partnered Du Plessis in the second row.

Former Springboks and Sharks hooker Bismarck du Plessis packed down in Montpellier's front row alongside ex-Border Bulldogs and Golden Lions prop Johannes Jonker.

In the European Challenge Cup, former Sharks and Southern Kings wing Wandile Mjekevu was Toulouse's hero as he scored a brace of tries in their 30-23 triumph over fellow French side Lyon at the Stade Ernest Wallon.

Mjekevu was joined in Toulouse's run-on side by ex-Stormers utility forward Rynhardt Elstadt, who played at lock, while ex Western Province and Stormers duo Deon Fourie (No 8) and Francois van der Merwe (lock) started for Lyon.

Elsewhere, former Lions loose forward Ruan Ackermann scored a try for Gloucester - who are coached by his father, Johan, - in their 33-26 win over Zebre at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi in Parma. Ex-Sharks flanker Johan Meyer scored a try for the Italians.

- Former Lions flyhalf Jaco van der Walt slotted three conversions in Edinburgh's 50-20 Challenge Cup triumph against London Irish at Murrayfield.
