Euro wrap: Nizaam Carr scoops award

Springboks loose forward Nizaam Carr walked off with the Man-of-the-Match award after Wasps claimed a thrilling 32-25 victory over Leicester Tigers in their Premiership match at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on Saturday.

The Stormers stalwart, who is on a three-month loan deal at Wasps, scored a first half try and was joined in Wasps' starting line-up by ex-Springboks and Cheetahs flanker Ashley Johnson, who played at hooker and captained the side, as well as Springboks and former Stormers centre Juan de Jongh and another Bok, ex-Cheetahs and Sharks utility back Willie le Roux.

Elsewhere, another former Stormers loose forward, Don Armand, also crossed the whitewash as defending champions Exeter Chiefs beat Bath 42-29 at Sandy Park.

In other action, ex-Lions head coach Johan Ackermann's fine run in charge of Gloucester continued after they claimed a comfortable 39-15 win at Kingsholm over London Irish.

Ackermann's son, Ruan, started at No 8 for Gloucester and ex Western Province U19 prop Petrus du Plessis scored a try for London Irish.

And at Sixways, Sale Sharks' new signing Rohan Janse van Rensburg scored a try in his side's 18-14 win over Worcester Warriors, who are coached by former Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold.

Sale were captained by former Bulls loose forward Jono Ross while ex-Lions duo Faf de Klerk (scrum-half) and Josh Strauss (number 8) were also in their starting line-up and another former Bulls stalwart, Springbok Francois Hougaard, wore Worcester's No 9 jersey.

In the PRO14, the Cheetahs made a statement of intent when they beat defending champions, the Scarlets 28-21 in Bloemfontein. Craig Barry led the way for the home side with a brace of tries and William Small-Smith also dotted down. Their other points came via the boot of Fred Zeilinga courtesy of three penalties and two conversions.

Elsewhere, South Africa's other PRO14 outfit, the Southern Kings were beaten 48-21 by Edinburgh in Port Elizabeth. Harlon Klaasen and Dries van Schalkwyk scored tries for the Kings and Kurt Coleman slotted three penalties and a conversion. Former Lions fly-half Jaco van der Walt kicked two conversions and a penalty for Edinburgh.

In Parma, ex-Sharks flanker Johan Meyer scored a try in Zebre's 24-10 victory over Connacht and at Irish Independent Park in Cork, Munster, who are coached by former Springbok assistant coach Johann van Graan, secured a 36-10 win against the Ospreys. Former Kings and Pumas flanker Chris Cloete scored one of Munster's tries.

In other action:

- Ex-Sharks and SA U20 centre Paul Jordaan scored a try for La Rochelle in their 26-14 triumph against Montpellier at Stade Marcel-Deflandre.

- Another former Sharks representative, hooker Jody Jenneker, also crossed the whitewash for Castres in their 41-31 victory over Toulouse at Stade Ernest-Wallon.

- And at Stade Mayol, former Springboks and Sharks wing JP Pietersen came off the replacements bench to score a try for Toulon in their 39-11 win over Lyon.
