Euro Wrap: Juan and Ashley in fine form

Springboks Juan de Jongh and Ashley Johnson were in fine form for Wasps in their 38-22 Premiership victory over Northampton at Franklin's Gardens on the weekend.

Late in the second half, former Stormers centre and captain De Jongh scored his first try for his new club after gathering a pass from ex-Cheetahs loose forward Johnson, who played at hooker. Johnson also crossed the whitewash earlier in the half.

Meanwhile, former Sharks and England centre Brad Barrit led Saracens to a convincing 44-13 win over London Irish at Allianz Park. Barritt was joined in Sarries' starting line-up by Springboks and former Stormers stalwarts Schalk Burger (flanker) and Vincent Koch (prop).

In other Premiership action, former Western Province and Sharks fly-half Tim Swiel came off the replacements bench and kicked a crucial penalty as Harlequins claimed a crucial 41-35 win against Worcester Warriors, who are coached by former Sharks boss Gary Gold, at the Stoop.

Elsewhere, Gloucester, who are mentored by ex-Lions head coach Johan Ackermann, claimed a hard-fought 22-21 triumph over Bath at the Recreation Ground with Ackermann's son, Ruan, starting on the blindside flank for the victors.

And at the AJ Bell Stadium in Salford, another former Lion, Springbok scrum-half Faf de Klerk, slotted two penalties as Sale Sharks suffered a 10-6 defeat to the champions, Exeter Chiefs.

In the PRO14, an injury time penalty from Fred Zeilinga secured the Cheetahs a narrow 24-23 win over Zebre in Parma. Earlier, Makazola Mapimpi scored a brace of tries for the men from Bloemfontein and their other points came via a Zeilinga conversion and three penalties from the boot of Ernst Stapelberg.

South Africa's other PRO14 side, the Southern Kings, suffered their seventh defeat in as many matches when they went down 43-13 against Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun.

Jacques Nel scored the Kings' only try which was converted by Oliver Zono and Masixole Banda kicked two penalties.

In other action:

- In the Top 14, Lyon secured an easy 52-18 victory over Oyonnax at Matmut Stadium de Gerland with ex-Lions lock Hendrik Roodt, former WP and Stormers hooker Deon Fourie, who was playing on the flank, and ex-Griquas prop Albertus Buckle all in Lyon's starting line-up.

- Former Springbok and Sharks scrum-half Charl McLeod scored a try and ex-Bok and Bulls fly-half Morne Steyn added a penalty for Stade Fran├žais in their 33-10 defeat to Clermont at Parc des Sports Marcel Michelin.
