Rossi set to decide on Aragon comeback

Valentino Rossi will have a medical examination on Wednesday to decide whether he will ride at the Aragon MotoGP, less than three weeks after suffering a broken leg.

Rossi completed a second day of testing at Misano in Italy on Tuesday, a day after making a shock early return to the track.

‘The Doctor’ completed 20 laps of the track in two hours on Tuesday afternoon.

A statement released by Yamaha said that Rossi had “wrapped up this second day of testing with an improved feeling and a more positive impression compared to yesterday”.

The examination on Wednesday will “verify the positive rehabilitation progress experienced in today’s session”.

Rossi will make a decision on whether to race at Aragon after the assessment.

Rossi broke his right leg while motocross training at the beginning of the month.

Yamaha went with just Maverick Vinales in the last race at Misano, and have lined up World Superbike rider Michael van der Mark as Rossi’s stand-in if he is unable to race in Aragon.

Rossi is currently in fourth place in the standings, 42 points behind championship leader Marc Marquez with five rounds left.
