Dynamos, Buffaloes record victories



Lusaka Dynamos and Green Buffaloes reclaimed second and third positions on the MTN FAZ Super League standings after they won their respective week seventeen matches played on Sunday.

Lusaka Dynamos needed a had fought 2-1 victory over bottom side Real Nakonde to move to 29 points, five adrift of leaders Napsa Stars. Lusaka Dynamos have two games in hand with Zanaco and Zesco United.

In a match characterized by few chances by either side, the highlights included a shot on target by Paul Banda on six minutes and a header by Chris Mugalu which cannoned off the crossbar in the 32nd minute.

However a defensive mistake by Nakonde defender Ken Phiri, allowed Jimmy Nkongo to steal the ball at the top of the box for the opener in the 34th minute.

The visitors would get back on level terms a minute after the break thanks to a penalty which was converted by Given Mubanga after Patient Ikamba brought down George Mpole in the area.

Lusaka Dynamos regained their advantage fifteen minutes from time when second half substitute Mwansa Nsofwa fired home a free kick at the top of the box. The free kick was won by Mugalu who was fouled by Dickson Mwakangale.

At the Trade Fair Ground in Ndola, visitors Green Buffaloes needed a second half penalty to collect maximum points against Forest Rangers.

It was Fellon Sitonya who stepped up to convert the penalty following a handball incident inside the area in the 78th minute.

The victory took Buffaloes to 28 points from eight wins and four draws, with a game in hand against Buildcon.
