Power up to second, Napsa open lead

Luka Lungu scored twice and assisted with one, while Alex Ng’onga scored one and provided an assist, as Power Dynamos defeated Lumwana Radiants 3 -1 at Arthur Davies Stadium on Saturday.

Lungu opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a low shot at the top of the penalty area before assisting Ng’onga with the goal which increased the host’s advantage a minute before the break.

However, there was still enough time for Lumwana Radiants to pull a goal back through Mushili Chanda, when he tapped home following a corner which was delivered by Hosea Silwimba in first-half additional time.

Power Dynamos made sure of the points 12 minutes from time when Larry Bwalya combined with Ng’onga, whose cross was tapped home at the far post by Lungu.

The victory took Power Dynamos to second on the log, level on 26 points with third-place Lusaka Dynamos, who play on Sunday.

Meanwhile, leaders Napsa Stars extended their lead at the top to eight points after they defeated Kabwe Warriors 1-0 thanks to first-half substitute Chitoshi Mukuma’s 44th minute goal.

Mukuma netted his first goal of the season seven minutes after he replaced Austin Banda and in the process helped his side to move to 34 points from 17 matches.

And Chavda Maisha bagged a brace in Buildcon’s 2-0 win over City of Lusaka at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. The Congolese forward opened the scoring on 37 minutes and added his second in the 78th minute to take his tally to seven goals.

Meanwhile, there were three different scorers as Konkola Blades thrashed Nakambala Leopards 3-0 at Konkola Stadium. Victor Mubanga gave the hosts a half-time lead before Ashad Mwale and Moses Menda contributed a goal apiece in the second half.

At the Independence Stadium in Choma, Green Eagles were too strong for Nkana whom they defeated 2-0 thanks to Collins Mulenga’s 40th-minute opener and an unfortunate own goal by Nkana left back Dieugo Apanane, two minutes after the restart.

The meeting between Mufulira Wanderers and Nchanga Rangers ended in a stalemate at the Shinde Stadium, with the hosts coming from behind to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw.

On-form striker Zikiru Adams scored his fourth goal in four matches when he gave the visitors the lead on 55 minutes, only for Rahimu Osumanu to draw the hosts level five minutes from time. Adams was given a red card 10 minutes after his opener.

Action continues on Sunday when Forest Rangers host Green Buffaloes at the Trade Fair Ground and Lusaka Dynamos play Real Nakonde at the National Heroes Stadium.
