‘Bloggers award reward for hard work’

Enyimba attacking midfielder Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has said the League Bloggers Award (LBA) honour will spur him on to work even harder in the upcoming football season.

The League Bloggers Awards (LBA), at its annual end of the season glamorous award ceremony in Lagos on Tuesday, awarded the Nigerian international and former Warri Wolves star the Best NPFL Midfielder 2017.

Ibenegbu said the award is a reward for hard work and a further challenge on him as he hopes to keep the award in next season’s edition.

“Initially, when I was named among the nominees for the award I was elated and excited but winning the coveted award right now makes me more excited.

“I attribute the award to my teammates and coaches, I give them kudos and equally thank God specially for making me a winner.

“Of course, the award is certain going to be a big challenge on me that If I had worked two-time hard in the past this time around I’m going to work four-time harder not only to meet the expectations of my teeming fans but to justify the confidence of the organisers as well as surpass my past performances.

“Yes, I’m already looking forward to successfully defend the award in the upcoming season.

“Right now I have been intensifying my work in the ongoing pre-season, as I believe that the pre-season has a way of shaping how the season will be properly.

“I want to surpass whatever I had achieved in the past in the upcoming football season, both on the home front and continent.

“The role of the midfielder is to assist and support the frontmen and the team I will go the extra-mile this time around to function maximally to ensure that Enyimba succeed in all their pursuits in the coming season.

“I want us to win all the available laurels in the land and continent in the new season as that will further enhance my chances of winning more individual laurels, too,” said the former Heartland goal poacher to supersport.com.

Enyimba will compete in the Caf Confederation Cup together with 2017 Aiteo Cup winners, Akwa United.
