Pep wants Iheanacho buy-back clause

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho will leave the club and said there will be a buy-back clause for him.

The 20-year-old is on the verge of a £25 million move to Leicester City after being told he is not part of Guardiola's plans.

City have insisted on a clause into any transfer, meaning they can bring him back to the Etihad in the future, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Guardiola said it is "an honour" to work with Iheanacho.

“Kelechi is a young player. As a manager it is an honour to work with him. It was not easy for him, I didn’t give a lot of chances.

“He decided to stay in Manchester (instead of going on tour) and maybe next week he will finish.

“We have an option to take him back.

“We believe he deserves to play at that age. That’s why we decided what’s best.”

Guardiola plans to add to his strike force this summer, with Alexis Sanchez his top target.

City are also interested in AS Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.

With Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus already at the club, Iheanacho was set to see his first-team chances further limited.

Another striker on the way out is Wilfried Bony, who spent last season on loan at Stoke City.

He has stayed behind in the UK too, with a minor injury.
