Dogo relishes win at Sunshine

Nasarawa United head coach Kabir Dogo has said his side ably deserved their away win at top-flights, Sunshine Stars.

The Solid Miners pipped the Owena Waves 1-0 in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 29 clash at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu Ode.

Forward Abdulrahman Bashir scored the match winner in the 41st minute to hand the Lafia outfit a cushioning three points away from home.

Dogo said his side made their chances at goal count positively compared with the hosts, Sunshine Stars.

“Our away victory against Sunshine Stars is well deserved as we were clearly the better side on matchday.

“We had a crucial chance at goal and we were able to make it count positively resulting in the decisive goal.

“Sunshine Stars, too, had their own fair share of the chances but could not make maximum use of them.

“I’m happy with the victory coming on the heels of our futile campaign last weekend in Umuahia against Abia Warriors.

“It would have been a disservice to our aspiration and position on the league log to have lost two straight away matches.

“The away win will greatly help our position on the log and further boost our confidence in other matches on the calendar.

“We remain positive towards achieving our season’s target by the time the curtain falls on the league,” said the former Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC coach to supersport.com.

The Lafia landlords are ninth on the 20-team top-flight log on 41 points 10 behind league leaders Plateau United.
