‘Ibom Angels ready for NWPL’

Ibom Angels head coach Whyte Ogbonda has said his side are ready for the restart of the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) at Heartland Queens.

The Uyo landladies are guests of the Owerri outfit in Wednesday’s NWPL matchday 8 clash at the Federal Polytechnic ground in Nekede.

The Uyo side were ruthless against the newcomers, Heartland Queens in the first fixture clash in Uyo, winning with four unreplied goals.

Ogbonda said the clash at Heartland Queens is quite crucial to his side’s desire to qualify for the season’s ending Super Four contest.

“Ibom Angels are well prepared for the commencement of the second round matches starting on Wednesday, with a clash at Heartland Queens in Owerri.

“The clash against Heartland Queens is quite important to our quest to qualify for the first time the Super Four contest.

“Anything short of outright victory for us at Heartland Queens will make it tough for us to achieve our season’s target of qualifying for the Super Four.

“We are not underrating the opponents as walkovers, not even the fact that we beat them 4-0 in the first fixture clash in Uyo.

“We have never participated in either the Super Six or Super Four, so the players are excited and hungry to taste the experience.

“Right now none of the teams could lay a claim to the ticket so we have vowed to take each match serious to ensure we are counted at the end of the day,” said Ogbonda to supersport.com.

Ibom Angels are fourth on the group A log on seven points from a possible 18 at the close of NWPL first term.
