The announcement was made at a news conference called by the league, with the fixture set to bring down the curtain on the 2018/19 domestic campaign.

The 2010 Fifa World Cup venue has hosted the Nedbank Cup final three times before, the first occasion in 2013 when Kaizer Chiefs defeated SuperSport United 1-0 to claim the trophy.

The following year the venue hosted the decider again when Orlando Pirates beat BidVest Wits 3-1, and South Africa’s most prestigious knockout trophy returned to the venue in 2017 as SuperSport beat Pirates 4-1.

It has also seen regular action as the stage for the Telkom Knockout and MTN8 deciders in recent years, largely because a neutral venue is sought and it is rare to have two finalists outside of the Gauteng province.

The two finalists in this year’s Nedbank Cup competition will be decided on Saturday, April 20 when the semifinal matches are played.

Lamontville Golden Arrows will host National First Division side TS Galaxy at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium at 15h00, while later in the evening Chippa United entertain Kaizer Chiefs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at 20h15.
