Highlands Park’s march to the MTN8 finals and a chance for their first-ever piece of silverware has been described as a fairytale by coach Owen da Gama in the build-up to Saturday’s decider against SuperSport United.

"This has been a fairytale for us. We are hoping for a happy ending on Saturday. We are really thrilled to be in this cup final! Just qualifying for this final is historic looking at where we come from," he said on Thursday at the official pre-match press conference at Orlando Stadium where the game is set to be played.

“The players must go and enjoy themselves in this final. They have worked very hard to get here, so they must go and enjoy.

"Someone's name is on that MTN8 Cup. It is either going to be Highlands or SuperSport.

What's meant to be, will be."

Da Gama must now make some tough choices in determining his team for the game with several of their more experienced players unsure of a starting berth.

“Players like Tendai Ndoro, Bevan Fransman, Reneilewe Letsholonyane and Rodney Ramagalela are an integral part of what we have achieved so far. They've all got big match temperament and their experience and knowledge rubs off on the younger ones," the coach said without giving anything away.

Letsholonyane has just signed and is yet to play but might debut against his former teammates, as well as give Da Gama some advice on what to expect from SuperSport.

"Yeye is a very humble boy, a well-raised human being. Our analysts have done a fantastic job with analysing their strengths and weaknesses and I have no doubt they have also done the same.

“Yeye also knows a bit about the team since they haven't changed much, but the bulk of the info comes from the analysts,” Da Gama added.
