MTN8 final will be physical - Benni

Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy expects a physical encounter at the weekend when his side take on SuperSport United to decide the MTN8 crown.

“They are very disciplined, very organised. That’s what coach Eric Tinkler has installed in them. His organisation is very good,” said McCarthy on Wednesday in the build-up to Saturday’s game at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“It’s going to be very difficult because they are organised but I think we’ve played teams that’s been as organised before and as good, if not maybe a little better. So I think we are able to deal with that and I think we can take a lot from what we learnt from the Wits games because they are teams who are similarly equipped, with strength and depth in their side.

“We need to focus like we did against Wits and then we should be OK. If so, it’s going to be an entertaining and an interesting final,” he predicted.

“We have to be as strong and tough as they are going to be. We will need effort and to play with a lot of heart, I think. I know we’ve got enough quality in our side. We’ve got players that can win you games.

“That’s where I’m concentrating my focus on. I’m not too bothered about Eric or SuperSport. We just know the team we are going to be up against. It’s not going to be easy, I can tell you that!”
