KPL Week 24 Preview

Seven matches are lined up in the Kenyan Premier League Week 24 with the chasing pack hoping to close down the gap on league leaders Tusker.

Saturday September 24

Ulinzi Stars Vs Western Stima (Afraha) Defending champions Ulinzi Stars have a chance to reduce the gap at the top to one point should they beat Western Stima in Afraha.

Playing at their backyard, Ulinzi Stars coach Benjamin Nyangweso knows they cannot afford to slip if his side is to defend its title.

Our Prediction:2-1

Sony Sugar Vs AFC Leopards(Awendo)

Sony Sugar have managed three consecutive wins in their backyard helping push them up to seventh on the log with 32 points.

Sony’s Hugo Nzoka has been the man to watch leading their resurgence but on the other hand Leopards have been in good form themselves with coach Jan Koops solidifying the team’s performances.

They might have to do without talisman Mike Baraza who is recuperating from a car accident suffered last week.

Our Prediction: 2-1

Gor Mahia Vs KCB (Nyayo)

After two consecutive losses Gor Mahia Coach Zedekiah Otieno and his technical bench are under immense pressure to get back to winning ways.

With a three game ultimatum on their heads K’Ogalo will be hard pressed to beat misfiring KCB.

Gor are currently fifth on the log with 36 points while on the other hand KCB have a reason to worry as a six match losing streak has seen them drop to 11th with 29 points.

Our Prediction:2-1

Sunday September 25

Chemelil Sugar Vs Karuturi (Chemelil)

Chemelil Sugar lost their first match since June against Congo last week but still retained the fifth place with 37 points.

Playing against Karuturi who are eighth on the log with 31 points at home will be a litmus test for them as this will show whether they can recover from that loss in Mombasa.

Chemelil’s top scorer Victor Ochieng with eight goals in just seven appearances will be the man to watch for goals.

Our Prediction: 2-1

Thika United vs City Stars (Thika)

Thika United have found the going rough in the second leg under coach John Kamau with a spate of losses that has pushed them down the log to 12th with 28 points.

On the other hand City Stars are enjoying a mini resurgence under Gideon Ochieng but they are still in a precarious 15th position with only 19 points and will be looking for a win to get out of relegation zone.

Our Prediction: 1-1

Wednesday September 28

Mathare United Vs Congo United (Nyayo)

Thirteenth placed Mathare clash with a buoyant Congo United that has won its last two matches to rise to get off the relegation spots.

The slum boys under coach Salim Ali are the king of draws with 11 already but will know that a win is necessary to stop their slide down the log.

Congo United’s coach Abdalla Juma is confident they can give the slum boys a run for their money despite losing in the first leg in Mombasa.

Our Prediction: 1-1

Sofapaka Vs Bandari (Nyayo)

Sofapaka who are third on the log with 39 points have an outside of winning the league title after winning their last three league encounters.

The 2009 champions will be favourites to beat bottom of the table side Bandari.

Coach Francis Kimanzi is spoilt for choice with his array of stars fighting hard to get a place in the starting eleven and they will be motivated by the fact that a win will see them close the gap on league leaders to three points.

Our Prediction: 3-1
