George Midenyo

KPL week 11 Preview

Bandari hope that the arrival of a new coach will help them stop their five match losing streak while Congo will look to continue their revival in week 11 of the Kenyan Premier League. In Nairobi, KCB face Rangers in a top of the table clash while Tusker face giant killers Nairobi City Stars.

Saturday 14th May

City Stars vs Tusker (Hope Centre)

Tusker are smarting from their second loss of the season to Rangers while City stars lost 1-0 to Congo last weekend.

The brewers will be wary of the Kawangware side that has a reputation as giant killers having beaten Sofapaka and Gor Mahia this season. And with George Midenyo ruled out for the rest of the first leg, Sammy Omollo will hope that Nigerian import Joseph Emeka can step up and lead the line.

Our Prediction: 1-3

AFC Leopards vs Chemelil Sugar (City Stadium)

Leopards’ new coach Nick Yakhama suffered his first defeat against Thika United in only his second game at the helm comes up against his former side Chemelil Sugar.

Chemelil’s new coach Edward Manoah will be handling the team in his first match in charge and will want to get off to a good start and prove that he was the best candidate for the job.

Our Prediction: 2-1

Congo United vs Mathare United (Mombasa live on SuperSport 9)

Congo United have seen a resurgence since the arrival of Gilbert Selebwa winning two of their last three matches which pushed the team to 13th. Mathare united do not need to consult an oracle to know that they must start winning matches and even though Coach Salim Ali got a vote of confidence from the club chairman Bob Munro this week, he will be under immense pressure to get a win.

Our Prediction: 1-2

Western Stima vs Ulinzi Stars (Bukhungu)

Western Stima started the league on a sound note but have found the going tough in recent weeks especially playing away from home.

But they are back at the comforts of Bukhungu stadium and Coach Henry Omino will be buoyed by the return of veteran striker Francis Chinjili.

On the other hand, champions Ulinzi have been plugging away despite missing nine players due to injury and with strikers Mike Baraza and Stephen Waruru available, they will feel confident they can nick the points.

Our Prediction: 1-1

Sunday 15th May

Bandari vs Karuturi (Mombasa live on SuperSport 9)

Bandari have a new man incharge as they take on Karuturi Sports after Rishadi Shedu was appointed coach replacing Oliver Bango who threw in the towel after losing to Gor Mahia.

The match could also be a defining moment for Karuturi coach James Nandwa who finds himself between a stone and a hard place after poor results that have seen the team stagnate and this is a must win game for him.

Our Prediction: 1-2

STAR MATCH: KCB vs Rangers (City Stadium)

Not many would have predicted these two would be meeting in a top of the table clash when the season started but they have confounded critics with wonderfully consistent performances that have seen cement a place in the top three.

Bankers’ Coach Leonard Saleh has made them into a compact team with the likes of Hussein Puzo, Luke Ochieng and Mzito Oyando playing out of their skins.

On the other hand Rangers’ array of seasoned players can go to the top of the table with a win against KCB coupled with a Tusker loss. Rangers have been in scintillating form crushing the big boys despite financial constraints and this clash has the makings of a thriller.

Our Prediction: 2-2

Thika United vs Sony Sugar (Thika) Thika are upto fifth on the log while Harambee Stars new call up Moses Arita has joined joining KCB’S Clifford Alwanga as joint top scorer with six goals apiece.

Thika United have been playing like a well oiled machine with all departments clicking and will be confident as they face Sony Sugar.

Our Prediction: 2-1
