Kekana focused after passport saga

There was a teeth-gnashing moment at the OR Tambo international airport on Thursday as SuperSport United defender Grant Kekana looked like he was going to miss his flight to Tunisia for the CAF Confederation Cup semifinal against Club Africain.

Kekana realised upon arriving at the airport that he had in fact packed the wrong passport for the journey, but his friend came to the rescue.

The friend drove through the early-morning traffic from Montana to the airport and made it just before the flight was closed, much to the relief and joy of everyone in the SuperSport United camp.

“I was a bit frustrated because I had the wrong passport and I almost missed the flight, but luckily my friend was on standby,” said Kekana.

“The right passport was underneath another passport. I put the two together after our trip to Zambia and instead of checking whether I had the right one, I just packed the one on top.”

The passport story became a subject of jokes throughout the journey, but the tough-as-teak defender insists it’s all water under the bridge and he is full focused on the mission at hand. "It was just a minor thing, it didn’t really distract me or anything. It is behind me, I'm fully focused on what is at stake,” added Kekana.
