Douhadji out to trip up Nigeria

Rivers United centre half Joseph Douhadji has expressed happiness after he was called up by Togo’s national team coach Claude Leroy for upcoming internationals in June.

Douhadji will take part in three games for the Hawks during the period.

The Hawks will face Nigeria and Comoros in Paris on 1 and 3 June respectively, and Algeria in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier at Stade Mustapha Tchaker, Blida on 9 June.

The 22-year-old is looking forward to the tests, especially the game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, which will be decided at the Stade Municipal de Saint Leu La Foret, Paris.

“This is a very good opportunity for me to represent my country,” he told supersport.com.

“I am very happy to get a chance to play these three games for my country.

“Playing against Nigeria is extra special because I live and play professional football there.

“It will be great to score against Nigeria and I will try to do it if the opportunity presents itself,” he said.

Douhadji has been capped twice by Togo at senior level.
