SuperSport United brushed aside Baroka FC 2-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

The victory took Matsatsantsa to fourth place on the league standings, while Bakgaga slipped down to the 10th spot.

Matsatsantsa got off to a bright start and they came close to grabbing an early goal through Thamsanqa Gabuza.

The big centre forward's header from Siyabonga Nhlapo's throw-in was well saved by Baroka goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze five minutes into the game

However, Bakgaga grew with confidence as the match progressed and Gerald Phiri forced SuperSport keeper Ronwen Williams into a save a few minutes before the half-hour mark.

Gabuza, who was looking lively for the visitors, controlled the ball well in the 35th minute before firing over the crossbar without troubling Chipezeze.

The score was 0-0 at the interval following a first-half which had few chances.

It took in-form striker Bradley Grobler seven minutes to break the deadlock after the restart with the hosts' defence caught ball watching.

The South Africa international pounced onto a loose ball and he fired past Chipezeze to make it 1-0 to SuperSport - netting his fourth league goal of the season in the process.

Wedson Nyirenda, the Baroka coach, decided to introduce attack-minded Liberian Terrance Tisdell as the home side looked to level matters.

Matsatsantsa did not sit back and defend their lead as they pushed forward in numbers and Teboho Mokoena missed the target in the 65th minute following a good move.

Nyirenda's counterpart Kaitano Tembo introduced Jamie Webber in the closing stages of the match as the visitors strengthened their midfield.

It was end-to-end stuff in the closing stages of the match as Williams was forced to make a brilliant save to deny Baroka striker Richard Mbulu.

However, Webber made no mistake at the other end as he sealed SuperSport's 2-0 victory over Baroka with a stunning goal in stoppage time.
