Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune saw a specialist this week to decide on a course of treatment for his injured shoulder that has threatened to leave him out of action for the remainder of the season.

Chiefs will hope for some good news that could see Khune feature in the latter stages of the season, though his coach Ernst Middendorp has already suggested that South Africa’s number one keeper will not play again this season.

“The season is finished for Itu Khune. That’s it. You will see him in the new season‚” the German mentor said.

Khune suffered the shoulder injury in training‚ according to officials‚ but Chiefs have given no further details.

He confirmed he was going to see a specialist and with a number of AmaKhosi players having made quicker-than-expected recovery from injuries, will hope that the initial diagnosis was incorrect.
