'Downs have strength in front of goal'

Jeremy Brockie might be feeling the heat as he waits to score his first goal for his new club Mamelodi Sundowns but the 30-year-old New Zealand international says there is strength in depth at the Absa Premiership leaders.

“That’s another good thing about being at the club. The best teams in football don’t only rely on one player to score the goals.

“If you look around our team Percy (Tau) scores; Villa (Sibusiso Vilakazi) scores; Themba (Zwane) scores; Khama (Billiat) scores … everyone scores.

“So, to be able to share that work load, definitely eases the pressure on everyone in the starting XI but it would be nice to get off the mark soon.”

Brockie is yet to score for the Brazilians since his move from SuperSport United last month and goes up against his old teammates in the Tshwane derby at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday (kick off 6pm, live on SS4).

Sundowns start the weekend’s fixtures with a five-point lead, with nine matches left in the campaign.
