Praise for players from Bucs boss

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevich praised his players for their focus in winning their second game of the Absa Premiership season when they beat Ajax Cape Town 1-0 on Tuesday night after 21 days without playing

“All around the world there is this trend of paying coming back from the international recess and finding it difficult to be competitive again. But I want to praise the Pirates players who worked very hard in those three weeks between the games. They did their best during that time. We wanted this game to reflect the work we had done.

“I want to give them credit because there were many positive things we saw in the game,” he said.

Pirates had only two players away during the international week with Abubakar Mobara and Wayne Sandilands called up by South Africa for their two World Cup qualifiers against the Cape Verde Islands.

The club are now in a schedule of four matches in the space of 11 days with the match against Ajax followed by Friday’s trip to Maritzburg United, then next Tuesday’s game with high-riding Cape Town City and the meeting with Bidvest Wits on Saturday, September 23.
