I sound like Komphela – Pitso

Pitso Mosimane has come out in defence of his Mamelodi Sundowns team after their 2-1 loss to Polokwane City, and appeared to take a dig at the Kaizer Chiefs coach on Tuesday night.

Speaking on SupertSport TV’s post-match interview, Mosimane said it’s always difficult facing the smaller teams because they are more compact and always look to get the goals on the counter.

The Sundowns mentor blamed the pitch but praised Polokwane for their efforts and, most importantly, hailed the former Sundowns striker Rodney Ramagalela’s fine strike.

“You have to accept they played on the break and we did our best, but also our pitch doesn’t help us. I know I sound like Steve Komphela after we didn’t win but it’s a fact,” said Mosimane.

“We are a free-flowing team, we need to push the ball around, and we need the ball to move, but its our home game. We can’t complain to anybody,” added the Downs mentor.

The Chiefs coach, Komphela, blamed the pitch for his charges’ 1-1 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic at the weekend.

“We couldn’t play and I heard many coaches complain about the surface. It’s a pity that we denied people good football. I think what they can do is bring down the level of the grass a little bit otherwise, if you are here, it means you just have to kick the ball. We are not a kicking team but a playing team,” Komphela said.
