Celtic need to find scoring boots

Bloemfontein Celtic’s status as the worst scorers in the Absa Premiership is a source of major concern says caretaker coach Lehlohonolo Seema.

The struggling Free State club have scored only 13 goals in 23 league matches this season, six less than bottom placed Baroka who have the second worst attack in the league.

“We have lacked luck in front of goal and obviously there is no confidence without goals. Our confidence is dented,” he said as Celtic looked forward to Saturday’s Nedbank Cup quarter-final against Orlando Pirates in Johannesburg.

“It goes without saying that we can’t wait for the season to end so we can strengthen our squad with new strikers. We obviously will have to reinforce.”

Celtic have seven more league games to improve their tally or finish among the worst ever scorers in Absa Premiership history. They host Highlands Park at the Molemela Stadium next Tuesday in their next league fixture after the weekend’s cup assignment.
