Football | Absa Premiership

Ajax-Chiefs venue still undecided

The Premier Soccer League will decide where the Absa Premiership clash between Ajax Cape Town and Kaizer Chiefs on 25 February will be played.

Ajax’s usual home venue of the Cape Town Stadium is not available and so a new venue must be found.

Kaizer Chiefs have already tweeted from their official account that the game will be played at the Athlone Stadium, but Ajax CEO Ari Efstathiou says that this is not necessarily the case.

Ajax are hoping to take the game to the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban to cash in on an expected bumper crowd, but their request must first be accepted by the PSL.

“We are in the hands of the PSL, but we have booked the Moses Mabhida Stadium,” Efstathiou said. “As things stand, police and disaster management has not approved fixture to take place in Athlone.”
