Stars confirm Solinas exit, Letsoaka arrival

Free State Stars have confirmed the appointment of Serame Letsoaka as their new head coach after parting ways with the Italian Giovanni Solinas on Wednesday.

Stars management and Solinas could not agree on a way forward for the struggling side, who had shown an improvement before the festive season break with three wins in their previous five games.

It is the second time the Italian has walked out on the team in a little over six months, having returned to Italy for ‘family reasons’ at the end of last season.

But he was back in the hot-seat when Stars axed Frenchman Dennis Lavagne just a few weeks into the season.

“The mutual termination of the head coach's employment contract was based on the fact that the coach and the management of the team did not share the same vision with regard to the approach for the remainder of the season and the future and as a result both parties have decided to amicably terminate the relationship,” Stars said in statement on Wednesday.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the head coach for his hard work throughout his employment with the club and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Letsoaka is back in employment after leaving Bloemfontein Celtic earlier this season following a string of poor results.
