Milla's firing raises dust

Cameroon's Sports and Physical Education minister has declared he is investigating the expulsion of Roger Milla from the country's football federation.

Adoum Garoua was addressing the Milla-Fecafoot saga on Tuesday, May 22 in a press conference, a week after the FA honorary president was axed out of the football management body.

Minister Adoum Garoua claimed that he was yet to receive any document from Fecafoot, sanctioning Milla's dismissal although he admitted he has learnt of the expulsion.

"Being aware of the important role Milla plays in the development of sports in the country, I have instructed the President of Fecafoot to present the document to me so that I can know the reasons for this expulsion," the sports minister said.

Meanwhile, Milla had earlier told SuperSport.com that the expulsion has instead relieved him. "I didn't ask to become honorary president. Instead they came to me. On many occasions the president of the republic has called me and expressed worry on the state of the country's football. He has often urged me to help rescue our football," Milla said. The Milla-Fecafoot saga is almost akin to the Samuel Eto'o suspension by the same Fecafoot, drawing sympathy for the victims and increasing criticisms for the football body that is perceived as corrupt and inefficient.

Milla who is heading the movement for the revival of football in the country has, despite the Fecafoot expulsion, continued his attack on the FA and its president, Iya Mohammed.

Following minister Garoua's Tuesday declaration, local fans are now awaiting the decision of government to either see justice done to Milla or see Iya Mohammed emerging even stronger.
