Saiz let cyclists see Fuentes

Former team director Manolo Saiz has told a Spanish court that he allowed some of his cyclist to contact Eufemanio Fuentes, the doctor allegedly at the centre of the blood-doping ring uncovered in the Operation Puerto police investigation.

Saiz, the former director of the ONCE and Liberty Seguros teams, said on the trial's fourth day that he let cyclists Roberto Heras, Marcos Serrano Rodriguez, and Angel Vicioso Arcos see Fuentes, but that "I did not want to become a middleman between Fuentes and my team."

Saiz and Fuentes are among five defendants charged with endangering the public health, as Spanish law didn't penalise doping practices in 2006 when the police began their investigation.
