Cricket South Africa (CSA) has heard with sadness of the passing of Kelly Seymour in Cape Town on Sunday, 17 February, at the age of 82.

A right arm offspinner he first came to prominence while studying medicine at the University of Cape Town and represented SA Universities in the tour match against New Zealand in the 1961/62 season, taking 12 wickets in the match, including what turned out to be his career best figures of 7-80 in the first innings.

He became a regular choice for Western Province, and played seven test matches against Australia and England, finishing his career with 111 first-class wickets.

“On behalf of the CSA Family I extend our deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his many cricketing colleagues,” commented CSA Chief Executive Thabang Moroe.
