Kolkata Knight Riders' Jamaican all-rounder Andre Russell continued his astonishing start to the tournament with a third, barely believable match-winning performance with the bat while England's Sam Curran took a hat-trick, Kagiso Rabada 4-21 and the glamour boys from Bangalore yet again flopped and remain the only winless team in the tournament.

David Miller continued his fine start with 43 from 30 balls to help a struggling Kings XI reach 166 for nine in the week's first match but the Delhi Capitals were coasting to victory until left-armer Curran took 4-11, including a hat-trick, to induce one of the most spectacular collapses in IPL history as the last seven wickets fell for just eight runs handing Kings XI a 14-run win.

Royal Challengers Bangalore started the week as they would carry on – losing to Rajsthan Royals by seven wickets and posting just 158 for four. Jos Buttler (59) and Aussie captain Steve Smith (38) completed victory.

The Mumbai Indians were way off the pace after batting first against the Chennai Super Kings at their beloved Wankhede Stadium until Hardik Pandya (25 not out from eight balls) and Kieron Pollard (17 not out from seven balls) smashed 45 runs from the final two overs to reach 170 for five.

The defending champions crawled to 133 for eight with Kedar Jadhav making a disinterested 58 from 54 balls to concede defeat by 37 runs.

The Capitals have been blowing hot and cold so far and were thrashed by five-wickets by the Sunrisers Hyderabad after posting a paltry 129 for eight, a total they knocked off with nine balls to spare thanks to Jonny Bairstow's 48.

Virat Kohli (84 from 49) and AB de Villiers (63 from 32) finally came good for the Royal Challengers with a thrilling stand of 106 in a total of 205 for three – but they couldn't defend it against the marauding Russell who took 29 off the penultimate over from Tim Southee to finish 48 not out from just 13 balls with a four and seven sixes.

ANOTHER DRUBBING FOR THE ROYAL CHALLENGERS

The Knight Riders needed 53 from the final three overs – and got home to a five-wicket victory with five balls to spare!

Faf du Plessis made his first appearance for the Super Kings on Saturday and top scored with 54 in a total of 160 for three on a slow pitch in Chennai and the Kings XI scratched their way to 138 for five to lose by 22 runs with KL Rahul (55 from 47 balls) and Sarfaraz Khan (67 from 55 balls) leaving their attempts to accelerate hopelessly late.

Mumbai also stuttered to a total of just 136 against the in-form Sunrisers but then watched their recently signed Antiguan speedster, Alzarri Joseph, take 6-12 on debut to bowl the opposition out for just 96 to secure an unlikely 40-run win.

The most one-sided match of the week was between the Royals and the Knight Riders with the home side struggling to 139 for three in Jaipur.

Steve Smith continued his return to form with an unbeaten 73 but Ben Stokes scratched his way to just seven from 14 balls at the death. Openers Chris Lynn (50) and Sunil Narine (47) helped KKR gallop home by eight wickets with almost five overs to spare.

The final game of the week produced another drubbing for the Royal Challengers who made it 0-6 against the Capitals.

Rabada (4-21) and Chris Morris (2-28) restricted them to 149 for eight and the Capitals managed to lose three wickets with only five runs required but still won by four wickets with seven balls to spare.
