Shane Watson and Suresh Raina set the Chennai Super Kings on course for a resounding six-wicket victory in their IPL match against the Delhi Capitals at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Tuesday night.

Full Scorecard

Chasing a modest target of 148 for victory Watson smashed 44 from just 26 balls with four boundaries and three sixes while fellow veteran Raina struck 30 from only 16 deliveries (4x4, 1x6) to make light work of the run chase.

Legspinner Amit Mishra dismissed both via the gloves of Rishabh Pant – Watson stumped and Raina caught – but it was too little, too late with the score at 98 for three and the required rate already below five runs per over.

Kedar Jadhav (27) was caught behind off Kagiso Rabada with just a couple of runs required but captain MS Dhoni (32 not out from 35 balls) completed a routine victory in the company of Dwayne Bravo (4*) with Rabada finishing with 1-26 from 3.4 overs.

Delhi opener Shikhar Dhawan earlier compiled an old-fashioned half century from 45 balls on a slow pitch to guide a stuttering Capitals to a below-par total of 147 for six.

Dhawan was the sixth man out at the start of the 18th over for 51 as the innings failed to ignite when acceleration was required.

Prithvi Shaw made 24 from 16 balls alongside Dhawan but captain Shreyas Iyer crawled to 18 from 20 deliveries before being trapped lbw by a quicker slider from Imran Tahir.

But it was Trinidadian Bravo who delivered the most telling over after conceding 17 runs in his first over. His second, the 16th of the innings, delivered the crucial wickets of in-form Pant (25 from 13 balls, 2x4, 1x6) and Colin Ingram (2) both whom were deceived by slower balls which they drove to cover.

West Indian Keemo Paul was bowled for a duck by Ravindra Jadeja and the home team's chances of reaching the 180 total they were aiming for went with him.

Axar Patel (9*) and Rahul Tewatia (11*) managed just one boundary apiece in the final two overs while Bravo finished with 3-33 from his four overs.

Jadeja was also highly impressive with 1-23 from his four as was opening bowler Deepak Chahar who claimed 1-20 from his full complement of overs. Tahir finished with 1-20 from two overs.
